Restoring dignity, joy, and purpose to elderly widows in Kenya since 2023.

Born from a Heart for the Forgotten

In Kenya's Kieni West region of Nyeri County, elderly widows often face profound isolation. Without spouses, many lack social support, access to healthcare, and the basic dignity every person deserves.

Reach-An-Elder was founded to change this reality. We believe every grandmother deserves to age with grace, surrounded by community, and supported with compassion.

Why We Exist

REACH-An-Elder is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes — to reduce isolation and aloneness of elderly widowed persons and mitigate the multidimensional challenges they face in Kenya. We create platforms for socialization, peer companionship, informal group therapy, continuous needs assessment, and innovative life improvement for dignified aging.

Four Program Pillars

Psychosocial Wellbeing

Peer companionship, emotional support, and safe spaces for elders to share joys, sorrows, challenges, hopes, and dreams. Promoting authentic living through culturally relevant approaches.

Basic Needs & Life Improvement

Innovative solutions for dignified aging — food security, water access, and support for unfulfilled dreams. Facilitating creativity and ideas from within the elder community.

Education & Information Sharing

Health education, age-appropriate informational forums, and access to local and international resources. Reducing the information gap among Kenya's elderly population.

Health & Wellness

Preventative health promotion, wellness programs, and medical equipment for comfortable home living. Continuous needs assessment for graceful aging.

7 Objectives

  1. 1.Create spaces for social interaction to mitigate loneliness after loss of a spouse.
  2. 2.Promote emotional and psychological health.
  3. 3.Promote basic preventive health measures and knowledge-sharing.
  4. 4.Empower authentic living through respectful, culturally relevant approaches.
  5. 5.Facilitate creativity and innovation from within the elder community.
  6. 6.Support actualization of long-dormant or unfulfilled dreams.
